Choosing Natural Deodorants

A product that we all use on a daily product, but many of us never put much thought into what we choose or the affects that will occur is deodorant!

I have given myself the role to educate you on how natural deodorants work and high street options that are also cruelty-free and vegan!

Natural deodorants work by natural ingredients being applied to the skin which inhibits the growth of odour causing bateria, unlike antiperspirants that plug pores from sweating with synthetic ingredients that then get absorbed. More can read on this here

You may not be aware but Lush sell many vegan deodorants in the form of solids or powders. Lush's The Greeench is their dusting powder which uses Lycopodium powder to fight odour, then help from sage, rosemary, thyme, and tea tree to keep your pits smelling light and herbally fresh. When applying the powder to armpits, apply using your hand to control the powder not going everywhere.

If you are concerned that powder will transfer on your clothes. My next recommendation is Optima Ice Guard, which is a mineral salt stick that when wet can glide on the skin easily. With the only ingredient being Ammonium Alum, the natural mineral salt, this version comes in plastic twist up packaging allowing convience when the crystal is wet.

If I'm in a rush and I don't have time to let your deodorant to dry or absorb, my go-to is Salt of the Earth's Pure Aura* which is in a handy spray form and uses Potassium Alum as the main ingredient, with lavender and vanilla that give off a floral fragarance after application and stays throughout the day.

With many natural deodorant alternatives available online or in stores such as Holland and Barrett or your local health store, you have no excuse not to pick up a natural deodorant next time!
